Built for these workflows

Three shapes of researcher. One canvas.

EquiVault v2.0 isn't public yet. Here are the three workflows we've built it around — and the primitives that make each one twenty minutes instead of eight hours.

The boutique advisor

Defending 30 portfolios on a monthly call.

You run separately-managed accounts for thirty households. Every month every client wants to know why their portfolio moved. You need a defensible thesis per holding, sourced to the filing, in language a retail investor will trust — and you need it in twenty minutes per name, not eight hours.

What’s in the way

  • Bloomberg Terminal sits in the institutional partner’s office; you don’t have it.
  • Generic AI chat gives you confident answers with no citations — not defensible to a client.
  • Spreadsheets take all afternoon to update and don’t explain *why* anything moved.

What v2.0 ships

  • Atoms — Margin compression, ASP shift, services revenue — each one a hoverable card with the page in the 10-K behind it.
  • Narration — Atlas reads the canvas aloud and writes the thesis. Words light up as they’re spoken. Cite-ready in the same beat.
  • Quality Compounder blueprint — Day-one seeded with the metrics + signals that matter to long-horizon SMA work.

The independent analyst

Building a buy-side practice without Bloomberg.

You spend half your week reading 10-Ks and listening to earnings calls. You publish a weekly note to twelve hundred substack subscribers. You need source-grounded research you can publish under your byline, not Bloomberg screenshots you can’t reuse.

What’s in the way

  • AlphaSense is $9k a seat; you bill less than that per client.
  • Free tools (Yahoo, Stockanalysis) are screenshots, not citations — nothing to underline in a note.
  • You’ve tried ChatGPT for filings work and learned the hard way it hallucinates page numbers.

What v2.0 ships

  • Source-grounded answers — Every claim ships with the page in the filing. Underline it, screenshot it, embed it in your note.
  • Freshness chips — A number two days behind the filing wears the chip that says so. Nothing stale slips through to your subscribers.
  • Branded export — PDF report carries your name + logo, not ours. Ship to your audience under your byline.

The finance educator

Running an investment club without institutional licensing.

You teach corporate finance at a university and advise the student-run investment club. Eighty students per term need to learn fundamental analysis on real companies. You can’t afford institutional terminals; the dean can’t justify the line item.

What’s in the way

  • Refinitiv asks $30k for a campus license you’d use one semester per year.
  • Free vendor data is too coarse for a real fundamental exercise.
  • You spend the first three weeks teaching the spreadsheet, not the analysis.

What v2.0 ships

  • Glance (free) — Each student opens a frozen Apple Q1 workspace and watches the canvas play out. Day one teaches the analysis, not the tool.
  • Value Investor blueprint — Margin of safety, intrinsic value, balance-sheet strength — the syllabus already covers it. The blueprint mirrors the syllabus.
  • Calculator audit trail — Every credit, every action, every artifact — students see what the work costs and why.
